When building your remarkable sales team it's very important that you understand why your staff is working for you. People take jobs for a variety of reasons: we want to achieve our goals; out of obligation to our families; for recognition and to define who we are; to keep busy and stay active; for a sense of making a difference. If you understand why your staff took the jobs you offered them then you will understand what motivates them. You'll then be able to help them succeed. What better way to establish a trusting relationship? Pamper your customer! WOW your customer! What can you do that your competition is not doing? How can you keep your customer from shopping somewhere else?
Let me ask you a few questions:
Update on Kauai, Hawaii Kauai once again fulfilled my greatest island expectations! The last time I went deep sea fishing I was 10 years old. It was in the bay of Corpus Christi, Texas, and I caught an eel and a crab. As you can see by the photo above my skills have greatly improved! 10 miles offshore from the island my husband Scott and I found a school of Mahi-Mahi (a Hawaiian word that means "strong-strong" for dolphin fish) and had the time of our lives. If you want a great fishing guide book your trip with Captain Scott Akana at www.lahela-adventures.com. He has been deep sea fishing since he was six years old. Be sure and hike part of the Kalalau Trail on Kauai's north shore. The trail head is at Kee Beach at the end of Highway 560. Take the first two miles to Hanakapiai Beach. It's a tough trail, two hours one-way, and requires sturdy hiking shoes, water, sunscreen, a hat, and adequate hiking clothes. The beach is private and awe-inspiring although with the strong currents swimming is not allowed. We discovered a couple of great new spots to eat: Hamura's Saimin Stand 2956 Kress St. Lihue 808-245-3271 No credit cards Saimin is a unique Hawaiian food. It's a soup dish of soft noodles served in hot Japanese dashi stock garnished with vegetables, wonton, hard-boiled eggs, sweetened pork, and condiments. Stand in line for a low stool at the U-shaped counter and enjoy a bowl of this inexpensive delicacy at a renowned saimin stand. Mermaids Café 1384 Kuhio Hwy. Kapaa 808-821-2026 This is a tiny sidewalk café for takeout in the center of Kapaa. Fresh, local ingredients made to order. Grab a seared ahi wrap in a spinach tortilla; or a black bean burrito with organic brown rice; or unbelievable coconut custard French toast made with Hawaiian guavo-taro bread. Delightful, inexpensive, and ready for a picnic on the beach. Please visit Spring 2005 in my past Travel Tips section for more information on this beautiful island!
